Background information

Annie was the daughter of Thomas HEWITT and Mary née CULLOM. She and her husband, Benjamin Charles COX, were farmers in the Epsom, Ewell and Cheam areas of Surrey.  In 1999 Sutton Library archives found a copy of the 1901 census showing Annie’s birthplace in Baulking, Oxfordshire.

It is not known how Annie and Benjamin met. Benjamin Charles COX was born in 1868 in Ruxley, Surrey, and married Annie in the Parish Church in Cheam on 12 Jan 1890.

Annie died in 1934 and Benjamin in 1948.  They are buried together in the grave of one of their sons, at St Dunstan’s Church, Cheam, Surrey.
