Background information

Son of William WIGGINS and Amy MIDWINTER, Emanuel moved to Gilfach Goch where he worked on extending the railway lines before working in the coal mines.

Emanuel had perfect pitch and Agnes was a proficient sight reader. The couple had 11 children: 8 boys of whom 3 died in infancy, and 3 girls. All their children sang in choirs; the family was member of Zion Methodist Chapel, Penrhiwfer Road, Tonyrefail, built in 1878.

Emanuel died in 1938.
