Background information
Henry Albert was born in 1870 in Chipping Norton.
Henry’s father (Edwin BUY) owned a blacksmith business in Worcester Street in Oxford. He lived in Hythe Bridge Street and then in Adelaide Street, St Giles, Oxford. It is probably there that Henry learned his trade.
Henry’s first wife was Maria Selina TOLLEY born in 1869 in Marylebone, London. Maria was illegitimate and was born in a workhouse. However, her mother's family were Bladon people and she was raised by her grandparents for a number of years before settling in Oxford with her mother and her new family. Henry and Maria married in 1896 in Bladon.
Henry and Maria had 7 children in all, however the youngest (Maria) died the year she was born (1906). Their home was Church Street, St. Ebbe’s, Oxford.
Maria died on 9 June 1906 in the Radcliffe Infirmary, the cause of death being pneumonia. We don’t know how the children were looked after after their mother’s death, except that it is known that they spent some summers in Bladon.
Henry married his second wife (Lucy Catherine Ward née STAVELEY) in 1911; her residence was also St. Ebbe’s in Oxford.
Henry died in 1934.
