The photograph was taken around 1917 in the garden of Herbert Stockwell BRAZELL’s house, Elderdene, which was situated in Chinnor on the road to Bledlow, Bucks (variously known as Lower Road, Lower Icknield Way and Bledlow Road).
Herbert Stockwell BRAZELL and wife Sarah, born STRATFORD, are at the centre of the picture. Their son Herbert Stratford BRAZELL is to Herbert Stockwell’s left, and the former’s wife, Georgina (born BROOKS), is on the far right.
The woman to the right of Herbert Stockwell and Sarah is Winifried WRIGHT (born BLACKMORE), the wife of the man who took the photograph, Charles Edward WRIGHT. Their two daughters are Nora (far left) and Kathleen (on her mother’s lap). Charles Edward WRIGHT was the son of Herbert Stockwell’s sister Sarah and her husband William Edward WRIGHT.
