Background information
Mary Ann YEATES was born
9 October 1856 in Pewsey, Wiltshire, the illegitimate daughter of Eliza YEATES and in 1861 she was living with her mother in Wiltshire. By 1881 she was living with John BOWLER and her own family, and her occupation was recorded as dressmaker. She and John had thirteen children in total, two of whom died in WWI. (They were Edward born in 1890 and Thomas born in 1894 and their names are recorded on the memorial in Lewknor Parish Church.) Mary Ann lived until she was nearly 94 and died in Redhill, Surrey, on 3 October 1948 (by this time she was blind). She had spent the last few years of her life living with her widowed daughter Rose, but she was buried in Lewknor with her husband.
