Background information
Percival LUDLOW was the son of John LUDLOW (1825-1886) and Mary Ann HURST. John was a farm bailiff in Eynsham and a farmer in Iffley.
Percival was apprenticed on 19 July 1875, when he was 15, to John SALTER, boat builder in the City of Oxford for seven years at 3 shillings a week for the 1st year, 5 shillings in the 2nd year , 7 shillings for the 3rd year , 9 shillings for the 4th year, 11 shillings for the 5th year, 13 shillings for the 6th year and 15 shillings for the 7th year.
In 1891 Percival married Mary Ann BLACKALL and had several children which were:

Aubrey Hurst LUDLOW was a corporal in 6th battalion of the Oxford & Berks Light Infantry Regiment. He was killed aged 19 and buried in Belgium but was later reinterred in Rue Petillon Military Cemetery, Fleurbaix, 4 miles SW from Armentieres.
