Background information
Robert GUNSTON was born in Great Milton on 29 September 1833, the son of John GUNSTON and Mary DOVER. He was the eldest brother to Thomas GUNSTON b.1836, Hannah GUNSTON b.1839, Eliza GUNSTON b.1842, Harriet GUNSTON b.1845, John GUNSTON b.1849 and Alfred GUNSTON b.1853. The latter five born in Great Haseley.
Robert became a blacksmith and married Miriam Ann GOOD(E) on 12 July 1857. Miriam was born in Chalgrove on 29 December 1839, daughter of Joseph GOOD and Elizabeth JENNINGS.
Robert at one time employed two men and a boy, and lived in High Street, Wallingford. He later moved to Haseley Cottage, 8 Wood Street, Wallingford. Robert died on 27 January 1908 and Miriam on 10 October the same year. They had 10 children, one of whom was my grandfather Herbert GUNSTON.
