Background information

Alfred HIGGINS was the third son of nine children of Denial Gray HIGGINS and Jane HIGGINS, née COWLEY.
He married Elizabeth Lavina NOYES and they lived in a tied cottage at 30a George Street, St Clement’s, owned by his employer, Christ Church. When he died his basket of tools was given to the Blind Association.

Alfred was a member of the Oxford district of the Independent Order of Odd-fellows and appears in the picture shown here of  his local pub’s social club.
