Background information

Edith ‘Primrose’ (Edie) HILL, née BEAMES was born in 1900 at Ramsden. She married William HILL 1932. They had one child (stillborn).  Edie died in 1976.

She was a housewife and Bed & Breakfast keeper. During WW2 she was a munitions worker.

She was very, very popular with young soldiers in WW1. I have an album of post-cards which they sent her.

Edith’s father is standing at the centre back of the BEAMES family group photo.
