Background information
He was the son of Richard RADFORD and his wife Katherine. He was probably descended from Stephen RADFORD of Draycot (Albury) and Waterstock, and Hephzabah (née MARTIN).
The name of Stephen RADFORD, wheelwright of Charlton-on-Otmoor appears in the list of men arrested following the Otmoor Riots in 1835. Family wisdom tells that he then bought up some land cheaply, and presumably prospered thereafter.
He married Mary BUTLER, considered to be a great beauty, and had four children. After her death, he married an old flame, another Mary.
The threshing machine he hired out was broken up – possibly to do with the Swing Riots.
