Background information

Thomas BOFFIN married Sophia Harriet LINDSEY and their son Thomas Lewis BOFFIN, born in 1888, was apprenticed to his uncle William Lewis LINDSEY, butcher, at the age of 12 and later had his own butcher’s shop at Faringdon, Berkshire (now Oxon).

Thomas BOFFIN died 23 December 1926 and was buried at St Barnabas four days later. The picture was painted for his marriage in 1881.
